Holistic Nutrition Components
Besides energy work, another passion involves caring for body, mind and spirit in natural ways such as the following:
- Eliminate sugar and eat whole foods
- Eat organic and lean to more alkaline foods
- Exercise
- Meditate
- Think and speak positively
- Spend time in nature
- Find ways to express yourself creatively
Easy, Sweet Nourishment
The body needs glucose, especially for brain function. Here are some whole
food suggestions for obtaining that glucose in a healthy way:
– baked yam or sweet potato (goes well with any green vegetable)
– red or gold beats
– blender smoothie with a few nuts, non dairy milk and seasonal fruit
Detoxification
Even as we choose to eat organically grown whole vegetables, fruits and
grains, the body is exposed to an increasing burden of pollution from air,
water and land. These toxins especially burden the liver and kidneys.
Fortunately, there are ways to help the liver through DETOXIFICATION like
chelation therapy, liquid activated zeolite, teas or tinctures that contain
burdock, dandelion and other detoxifying herbs.
Many people are in the habit of thinking about ‘what’s wrong,’ but a simple
shift to focusing on positive thinking affects the health of the body’s cells. A
good beginning for such a shift could take the form of a journal with daily
recordings of three things beginning with, “I am grateful and happy for . . .”
For example:
I am happy and grateful for restful sleep.
I am happy and grateful for connection with my daughter.
I am happy and grateful for my eyes and ears that see and hear for better
understanding.
Creative Outlets
In addition, spending time in nature – near water and mountains and
wilderness hiking trails — allows the system to breathe more expansively.
Personally, I also find nourishment in musical expression, like playing in a
local band, and singing in a community chorus. Perhaps you are drawn to
crafts or sports or dancing – how are you nourishing the uniqueness of you?
